Catching up

Where does the time go? In two days it will be May, but it has been so cold it doesn't seem possible. Alexa is already two months old. Everything went well at her check up. She is rapidly gaining weight and is already 13 lbs. 2 oz. I keep asking about her eyes when I take her to the doctor because it doesn't seem possible that with my genes her eyes can stay so light. The pediatrician said that babies' eyes can change up to 5 months so we will just have to wait and see. She is starting to be so much more alert. Recently she has insisted upon being held constantly. It makes it hard to get anything done. I will hold her until she falls asleep, set her in her crib, and within 10 minutes she will be crying.

Last weekend Jon built us a deck. Natalia loves it and wants to spend all of her time outside. She was not happy with me because I would not let her out there the past few days when it was freezing cold and raining. Thankfully the weather is improving so that she can spend more time outside running around. Lola is so small she loves to sneak through the fence when I'm not looking. I will turn around and see her little butt as she makes her escape. By the time I get outside to catch her she is already out of sight.

Weekend in Stephen

We spent this past weekend visiting my parents. Jon only worked part of the day Friday so we decided to leave that afternoon instead of Saturday morning as we had planned. The weather was good most of the way. It started to get worse when we got north of Fargo. There were only two tire tracks in the snow on the road and water on either side of the road because of the flooding. Since we were only going 30 mph and we still had another hour and a half to go during normal weather conditions, we decided to stop and spend the night in Hillsboro and go the rest of the way on Saturday.

Sunday was Alexa's baptism. Pastor Mike was the one to baptise me as well as both of my girls. My mother had a very nice reception at her house after the baptism. She had such a beautiful array of food, but unfortunately neither of us remembered to take any pictures.

My grandma's 100th birthday party was also on Sunday even though her actual birthday is today. I think that it is so crazy that there is a 100 year (minus about 7 weeks) age difference between my grandma and Alexa.

Phyllis is a family friend. For most of my life she and Donald lived across the road from my grandparents. The pictures of her holding Alexa are so cute.



Natalia and Alexa were very good travelers. This last pictures was taken on the drive back home. She was busy catching up on her reading.

Necklace

The other day when Krystal was over Natalia was playing with her necklace and wearing her boots.

When she got ready to leave, Natalia started trying to hide her necklace in her pants.

When she finally got the whole thing in her pants she pulled her shirt down and acted like it wasn't there. Krystal put her hand out for the necklace and Talia just gave her a high five.

Random pictures from the past couple weeks

The other day Natalia must have had a bad dream. She woke up from her nap crying and wouldn't stop. The only thing that made her feel better was a lollipop and watching SpongeBob Squarepants.

Natalia likes to share with her sister. We will see if this remains true when Lexi actually wants to play with Talia's toys.

As I have said before, Natalia pretty much only likes the frosting. I don't know why she got sad. Maybe it was because all of the frosting was gone.



Walk

Here are some pictures from when my parents were here last weekend. We all went for a walk, minus Jon who was at work.

Baby Alexa is getting so big!

I have been extremely lazy this week and have no new pictures of Alexa. Starting late last week I noticed that she had a few red bumps on her forehead and decided not to worry about unless it got worse. The rash spread across her face and down her neck over the past week and didn't seem to be getting better. Even though it didn't seem to be bothering her, it made me uncomfortable just looking at it. Yesterday afternoon I got all paranoid about it so I called her pediatrician and made an appointment. The doctor said the rash was something called milia and it is very normal for babies to get it. He asked if Natalia had gotten it, which she had not. After he left the room I told Jon that if Natalia had had it, I would not have needed to bring Alexa in because I would have known what it was. It should go away on its own in a few weeks and there is nothing that can be done to treat it.



The doctor was also suprised by how big Alexa is getting. Her naked weight last night was 11 pounds 4 ounces. She has gained almost 2 pounds since her last visit on February 14.

Natalia's 2nd Birthday

We had Natalia's 2nd birthday party last Sunday. It took me forever to post pictures because I always feel like I will spend some time editing them, but I get lazy and just do some minor tweaking.

She had a really great time opening/playing with her new toys. She also enjoyed her cake/cupcakes a lot more this year than last year. She pretty much only eats the frosting. And she really likes the sprinkles. As we were singing happy birthday she was picking off the large sprinkles and eating them. A couple days after her birthday I gave her cupcakes because I froze the other half of the cake so that we could have it when my parents are down this weekend. Once again she pretty much only ate the frosting and sprinkles. Not needing a toddler on that much sugar, I sent most of the leftover cupcakes with Jon to share at work

Her newest baby is her favorite baby. She wraps her up in a blanket and carries her around or pushes her in the stroller. The doll needs to be propped up sitting next to her when she is sitting on the sofa or needs to sit on the chair next to her. If the actual baby is not in the swing, Natalia will put her doll in there and turn it on. There is some confusion that her sister is in fact not a doll. She for sure understands that she is more interesting than her dolls, but she believes she can pick her up and carry her, sit on her, and bite her.
