3.23.11

I don't know why Natalia thought that she needed to put her Goldfish on the piano. I took a picture and then asked her to put them back in the bag.

She got this dress as a gift from her Great-Grandma Bette. It is one of her favorite things to wear, and she looks so cute in it.

Talia is a busy girl. She reads magazines with her doll babies. She also makes sure they have clean diapers. I have found that if I leave anything that I use for Alexa within Talia's reach, she retrieves it to use for her dolls. I was nursing Alexa and I watched Natalia first bring out a diaper and the container of wipes; then she went back into her room to get the changing pad.

Today during Natalia's nap I made Alexa this headband. There was a tutorial on a blog and it looked so cute I decided to make one.

Two Week Check-up

Yesterday Alexa had her two week check-up, which was really a two-week and three day check-up. She is now 9 lbs. 6 oz. (97%) and 21.5 inches long (95%). Everything was ok except her belly button was oozing a little. The doctor fixed that by using a special q-tip.

Lexi isn't interested in a nuk. I got her a different brand than I got Talia because I figured she would be less likely to take them. I thought wrong. Everytime Talia comes across a nuk it goes in her mouth. They have spent more time in her mouth than Lexi's. She is good about giving them up when I ask for them though.

Babies

Natalia loves her baby sister so much. At the same time she has hit the terrible twos and can get a little jealous especially if I am nursing Lexi. If I set the baby down Talia is always trying to cuddle or hold her sister.

I have found that the best solution to the problem is to have Talia do what I am doing with Lexi with her dolls. Today I nursed Lexi in Talia's room. Talia gave her one doll a bottle and wrapped her up in a blanket. She has seen Alexa in the Boppy pillow in the crib, so that is where she put her doll.

I also gave her some newborn diapers for her dolls. She loves to change the diapers. She wipes her dolls and says "ewww".

Eyes

Alexa has been more alert today. I am assuming her eyes will turn brown soon, but right now they are greyish-blue.

One Week Old

Alexa Avery went back to the doctor today for a weight check. She was 8 lbs. 6 oz. at birth and 20 inches long. When she was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday she was down to 7 lbs. 11.5 oz. Today she was up a little to 7 lbs. 14 oz. and is now 21 inches long.

Talia loves her little sister. She is always trying to kiss and hold Lexi if she can reach her.
